Richard Rhoton: Photographer

Richard Rhoton is a retired Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgeon. His educational background is a B.S. from Florida State University and a D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University. A three-year surgery residency followed this at the University of Pennsylvania and Geisinger Medical Center.

Richard started doing large format black and white photography in 1983. He has won several awards in shows throughout Northwest Ohio, including two "Best of Shows" in Ohio with his work. He has also had two one-man shows.

Many years of backpacking and travel in North America and Europe were the inspiration to do this kind of photography. Richard has not made the switch to digital and prints all pictures from a negative to a paper with a silver gelatin emulsion.

Richard is in his fiftieth year of marriage to Lois and has three grown children, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
