Carol Stott: Watercolors and Mixed Media

I find the extraordinary details of the simple things intriguing.  Each painting I make focuses on the design and color, patterns and shapes of objects we see everyday.  Using a mixture of watercolor and other mediums.  I share what I see in those objects:  sometimes illustrating the vibrancy of life and other times, bringing out a subtle detail.

In my 25 years of working in the children's book, greeting card and stationary markets, I have used my talents to convey a message, define an idea, tell a story, and set a mood.  But whether working on fine art or illustrations, my goal is simple — to show myself, and those who see my work, that something new, beautiful can be seen by just looking.

I work out of my studio in southern Minnesota, where I have lived the majority of my life.  My fine art has been exhibited in numerous national and local juried art shows, and currently can be seen at the Stones Throw Gallery in St. Peter, Minnesota.
